Logistics, fit, and setting yourself up for success.

Session two of the Untangling Workshop Series initially run on 8th April 2026.

Funding isn't helpful unless you can access the right supports through it. It can be daughnting seeing a dollar figure on paper and being unsure how to go about actually accessing services.

For many autistic, neurodivergent, and chronically ill participants there can be factors impacting this process:

  • decision fatigue when choosing providers

  • the (justified) fear of getting the 'wrong' worker

  • past negative experiences with services

  • energy limits that make trial-and-error particularly impactful

This session is about building a support team that works with you, not against you.

In this workshop, we’ll explore:

  • communicating your needs, preferences, and boundaries

  • tools to reduce cognitive load

  • practical ways to find and assess potential support workers

  • checking compatibility (communication style, sensory awareness, reliability)

  • red flags and what to do when something isn’t working

  • building a support network that is sustainable over time

Who this is for
Autistic, neurodivergent, and chronically ill participants who are building, reshaping, or reassessing their support team.

Whats included?

  • The full workshop recording

  • A downloadable copy of the presentation/slides

  • A short worksheet to help you identify your support needs

Untangling is facilitated by Cassie, a social worker and the founder of Nearish Support. Her work is grounded in lived experience and centres the often unseen labour of navigating support systems, with a focus on accessibility, sustainability, and care.

How to identify your needs and start translating them into supports that work for you.

Session one of the Untangling Workshop Series initially run on 25th March 2026.

Accessing NDIS supports can feel overwhelming - forms, conflicting advice, pressure to 'get it right,' and minimal energy to navigate it all.

For many autistic, neurodivergent, and chronically ill participants there can be extra layers:

  • uncertainty about what actually counts as a need

  • discomfort around accepting support

  • internalised ableism ('I should cope on my own')

  • external ableism within systems and services

This session is about untangling that first knot.

In this workshop, we’ll explore:

  • practical ways to start identifying your support needs

  • the difference between coping and actually being supported

  • maintaining autonomy while accepting support

  • recognising and navigating internal and external ableism

Who this is for
Autistic, neurodivergent, and chronically ill participants who feel unsure where to begin or who want to reimagine their supports in a way that protects their autonomy and energy.

What’s included:

  • Full workshop recording

  • A copy of the slides/presentation

  • Worksheets to help you identify your support needs

Staying steady during reform.

Session four of the Untangling Workshop Series initially run on 6th May 2026.

The NDIS is constantly evolving with everchanging policy updates, funding shifts, new processes and new language.

This can make make navigating the system more complex. How do we filter out what information is actually relevant? How can we stay across relevant updates without being consumed by them?

This session is about staying steady when the system shifts.

In this workshop, we’ll explore:

  • official updates vs commentary vs media discourse

  • how the NDIS changes in practice - and how it doesn’t

  • filtering information so you know what actually applies to you

  • balancing preparedness with acceptance

  • energy-aware ways to stay informed

  • maintaining agency in a changing system

Who this is for
Autistic, neurodivergent, and chronically ill participants who feel exhausted or destabilised by ongoing change.

Format

  • Online via Google Meet

  • 90 minutes (75 minutes content + 15 minutes Q&A / discussion)

  • Participate in any way that you'd prefer - there is no expectation for you to have your camera on or to interact in any way

This workshop will also be recorded and sent out with slides and resources after the event. Only Cassie and the slides will be recorded, no attendees will be visible.

Communication + Complexity.

Session three of the Untangling Workshop Series initially run on 22nd April 2026.

Support is relational. Even practical tasks involve communication, expectations, and boundaries.

  • masking or over-accommodating to keep the peace

  • difficulty expressing needs clearly

  • avoiding conflict until it builds

  • emotional and sensory fatigue from navigating misunderstandings

This session is about the human side of support.

In this workshop, we’ll explore:

  • clear, direct communication strategies

  • scripts for communicating needs

  • updating supports as you change

  • masking and people-pleasing in support settings

  • clarifying roles within a team

  • navigating misunderstandings and repair when things aren’t working

  • protecting your energy in relational dynamics

Who this is for
Autistic, neurodivergent, and chronically ill participants who want practical tools for working with real humans — sustainably.

Format

  • Online via Google Meet

  • 90 minutes (75 minutes content + 15 minutes Q&A / discussion)
